Termion Fire Protection 04 is an organic, anti-corrosive, frost-resistant fire-retardant coating. The coating is a viscous suspension composed of flame retardants, corrosion inhibitors, special additives, functional fillers, and several types of hybrid-modified resins (weather-resistant).
Principle of operation:
When heated to 250 °C, the coating swells, forming a protective layer of foamed coke of carbon phosphate. This foam prevents the structure from heating to critical levels and increases fire resistance to 90 minutes.
Termion Fire Protection 04 does not react with other compounds. The coating is available in plastic or metal containers with sealed lids.
Purpose:
Termion Fire Protection 04 is recommended for use in residential and industrial construction, for fire protection of metal structures at transportation hubs (both outdoors and indoors), and for the construction of public and industrial buildings with high moisture levels.
The coating withstands large temperature fluctuations (from –40 °C to +60 °C). Therefore, the material can be transported and used even at temperatures below zero.

Directions for use:
- Before use, mix the material thoroughly
- Application can be done manually (with a brush or roller) or mechanically (using an airless sprayer)
- The recommended ambient temperature for application is between -40°C and +50°C
- The surface to be coated must be dry, free of dust, dirt, rust stains, and remnants of old coating
- Before application, the substrate must be coated with a primer
- During application: When using Termion Fire Protection 04, wear protective equipment such as safety goggles and a respirator/mask. If the substance comes into contact with eyes or skin, rinse the affected area with water
- The drying time between coats is approximately 5–6 hours, and the final drying takes up to 7 days
The fire resistance rating of TERMION Fire Protection 04 (R30, R45, R60, R90) depends on the coating thickness.
Technical specifications TERMION Fire Protection 04:
- Dry film thickness after application, µm: 400-600
- Appearance (consistency, color, sheen): Thick, homogeneous mass, white (can be tinted), dries to a matte finish
- The liquid formulation is hazardous in case of fire and explosion, contains an organic solvent, and does not contain free formaldehyde
- Film hardness of TML pendulum, e.u., min: 0,15
- Drying time to degree 3 at 20±2 °C, h, max: 6
Application methods: Brush, roller, airless sprayer.
Recommended primer coatings: Epiprime-046; GF-021; HEMPADUR MASTIC 45880; HEMPADUR 17410; HEMPADUR FAST DRY 15560; HEMPAQUICK PRIMER 13300.
Difference between air temperature and dew point: more than 3 °C.
Complete polymerization of the coating: 48 hours; at temperatures below zero, the time for complete polymerization may be extended to 5–6 days.
